New Imaging Results!

ILinus had PET, MRI, and CT scans done of his whole body whenever he first received his rhabdomyosarcoma diagnosis in May. These tests revealed innumerable tumors all over his body; to our delight, we have been able to physically watch these tumors shrink as Linus’ treatment has progressed. We were eagerly awaiting Linus’s next set of imaging, PET and CT scans scheduled for early September, after seeing his body’s impressive response to these drugs.
Imaging days are exciting, nerve wracking, and very long. This one felt especially long since Linus had an ENT appointment right before, which was relatively uneventful but also reassuring. While the actual imaging itself takes a bit over an hour, there are hours set aside for Linus to ingest contrast through his feeding tube, wait a set period of time, and then have some more contrast injected into his new port. After all of this, he was put under anesthesia (to ensure he could stay perfectly still) and had his pictures taken.
The next day we received Linus’s results. He had only one tiny tumor remaining behind his knee. It was so small that even the radiologist had to squint at the images to see it. This was extremely exciting and made us even more eager to make it to March, when Linus is scheduled to finish his treatments.
